Documents are always safe

Forgot to save the document? No problma with Microsoft Office 2010,you can also retrieve it by using the function Recover Unsaved Documents. In this article we will discover how to use it.

Recover Unsaved Documents

In previous versions of Office,in the event of an unexpected and sudden a program for any reason (crash, operating system, unexpected shutdown,etc..),It was possible to recover unsaved work.
The new version of Office has enhanced this feature by extending the possibility of recovery even those files that simply have not been saved,if only to distraction.
Office 2010,it allows you to retrieve the last unsaved file to which you are working. It is a very simple operation and requires working in Backstage view.
To retrieve the last unsaved file,as shown in the example in Figure 1,it is sufficient to take to the File tab and click on the item New style, then click Recover Unsaved Documents> Restore unsaved workbooks> Recover Unsaved Presentations, at the bottom right.

Figure 1: retrieve unsaved documents

You will be immediately taken to the folder UnsavedFiles, shown in Figure 2,from which open the last file saved.By default,in fact, the last unsaved file is automatically stored in the Application Data Microsoft Application Name (where Application Name is the name of your application) within the folder with your user information ( different in different versions of Windows).

Figure 2: Open an unsaved file from the folder UnsavedFiles

To choose a new folder to save and or configure the options of the last auto-save file is not saved,it is necessary to work in the Options dialog, shown in Figure 3 (File tab,Options item) to Saving.

Figure 3: Configure the last autosave file not saved

Here,in addition to changing the folder where you save the last file has not been saved, you can also disable the autosave feature, simply deselecting the Keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving.

The dog did it! ;-)

Doesn't Word save backup files while it's doing autosave? If so, they are probably stashed in the User (not system) Library folder. Look for a Microsoft folder (or Office folder) which will contain a few more folders, "user database", etc.
This is based on 10.4 experience. I use 10.5 now, and don't use MS products unless under duress.
It's not too late to get Pages for Xmas! ;-) Or NeoOffice, which is free.

Look in the folder...

Sometimes you'll see a file with a weird name in the same folder, that's usually where I've found the saved document - named something like ~wra###
Also, check the temp folder, it may be there.
You may not have autosave turned on either, so check that in your settings.
You can set the location of the saved files by doing this:
1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
2. In the left pane, click Advanced.
3. In the right pane, click File Locations under General section
